Lutheran Braille Workers’ response to COVID-19 pandemic
Lutheran Braille Workers is committed to the safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, donors, and recipients during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are equally resolute in our efforts to continue to bring the Word of God to individuals who are Blind or Visually Impaired and living in physical, social, and spiritual darkness. This is a difficult time to navigate, and we are taking necessary actions to balance our ministry’s mission with government regulation and scientific advice.
As such Lutheran Braille Workers continues to implement the following decisions on how it conducts operations.
Headquarters:
At headquarters, LBW is open Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-4:00pm with deliveries being made before 2:00pm.
Staff are encouraged to work from home as much as possible. While staff are in the office, their temperatures are being monitored, they are required to wear masks, and social distancing measures are fully implemented and enforced.
Outside visitors and volunteers are being allowed into the office but with the same requirements as the staff.
Ministry Production or Outreach Centers:
All centers are required to follow local and state government rules and regulations regarding their reopening.
Centers which reopen are required to sanitize equipment, follow social-distancing recommendations, and implement safe practices in operations among other requirements.
Centers and volunteers who do not feel comfortable reopening are encouraged to wait until the situation changes and they feel safe to return.
